Travel Information

Essential reading before departure to ensure a smooth, safe and enjoyable Tibet trip

1. Documents and Tibet Travel Permit

Necessity: According to regulations, foreign visitors entering Tibet must hold a Tibet Travel Permit issued by the Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Bureau.

Application Process: You do not need to apply yourself. Please send clear scans of your passport and valid China visa to us at least 20 working days before your trip begins.

Carrying Requirements: We will send your Tibet Travel Permit in advance to your hotel in a city before entering Tibet (such as Chengdu, Beijing, or Xi'an), or our guide will give it to you at the airport/train station. Please keep the original with you at all times.

2. Payment and Settlement

To accommodate our foreign guests, we offer flexible payment options:

Settlement Currency

We support settlement in US Dollars (USD) or Chinese Yuan (CNY).

Payment Methods:

  • PayPal: The most common payment method for foreign guests, safe and convenient (small fees may apply)
  • International Bank Wire Transfer: For large group payments, allow 3-5 business days for processing
  • Credit Cards: We accept major international credit cards like Visa and MasterCard
  • Cash/Mobile Payment: After arriving in Lhasa, you can also pay in Chinese Yuan cash or use Alipay or WeChat Pay

3. Altitude Sickness

Prevention Preparation

We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for one week before entering Tibet and getting adequate sleep. Consult your doctor about whether you need to take preventive medications like Rhodiola or ibuprofen in advance.

Arrival Recommendations

On your first day in Lhasa (elevation 3,650 meters), avoid washing your hair or bathing, prevent colds, and absolutely no strenuous exercise. Drink plenty of water and eat fruit.

Medical Support

Our guides and drivers are professionally trained in altitude sickness emergency response, and our vehicles carry emergency oxygen bottles. If you feel seriously unwell, immediately inform your guide.

4. Climate and Packing Guide

Tibet has intense UV radiation and extreme temperature swings between day and night. Even in summer, you'll need a jacket in the early morning and evening.

Essential Equipment

We recommend "layering" your clothing. Essential items include: windproof and waterproof jacket (windbreaker), thermal underwear, sun hat, sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen, and lip balm.

Comfortable Footwear

We recommend wearing professional hiking boots or comfortable athletic shoes.

5. Respect for Local Culture

Temple Etiquette: Remove your hat when entering a temple, take off sunglasses, and never wear short skirts or shorts. Photography is usually prohibited inside temples.

Religious Customs: When spinning prayer wheels, visiting temples, or passing mani piles, always move clockwise.

Communication: Always ask permission before photographing local Tibetan people. Do not touch Buddha statues, scriptures, or a monk's head.

6. Insurance

We strongly recommend all foreign guests purchase international travel insurance covering high-altitude medical rescue and emergency evacuation before departure.
